Terra nullius: colonists and the colonised: how was identity maintained?

Papal Bulls gave Christians the ‘right’ to take over the lands of non-believers.  This forged identities that created ‘othering’ and led to brutal exploitation of aborigines and hybrid populations who could not be baptised, and so were ostracised from the power structure.
