Desk

Having an open plan office was a new idea in the office of The Barbarian Group, a digital advertising agency in New York. There is only one table for all of the 140 workers. In addition, there is space for about 35 visitors.

Clive Wilkinson, a South African-born architect now based in Los Angeles, designed this monster of a desk. Wilkinson’s design received a Merit Award from the Architectural Review .

According to the Architectural Review, the desktop has an area of 410m2 and is reminiscent of something that may be more familiar to a skateboarder – there are various curves and undulations that provide visual excitement. In addition, there are no visible joins in the resinous surface, because it was poured over a period of 24 hours to eliminate any problems.
