As part of the 15th Venetian Architecture Biennale visitors to this city can attend a symposium on the role of museums in 21st century cities on 24 September.
‘Museum of the 21st century ‘Content – Form – Impact’’ is the title of the simposium to be held in collaboration between the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Moscow and ANCB The Aedes Metropolitan Laboratory, a German initiative.
As part of the exhibition at the Russian pavilion, the Moscow Ministry of Culture asked Kristin Feireiss and Hans-Jürgen Commerell to conceptualize a symposium that ‘critically reflects upon the role museums and cultural spaces play today as motors of progress within the socio-political and cultural landscape of the contemporary city’.
The museum will be investigated in terms of role, tasks and aims now as well as in the future against the backdrop of the modern day global, digital and demographic challenges.
The symposium is divided in two themes:
• Museums and cultural spaces as urban activators. The transformational power of museums and cultural spaces within the urban realm.
• New expectations towards museums and cultural spaces. Museums and cultural space as discourse platforms of contemporary reality
