On behalf of the Organising Committee we are delighted to invite you to participate in the Heritage Association of South Africa 23rd Annual Symposium which will be held from 22nd to 24th October 2024 at The Clarens Golf & Leisure Estate in association with Clarens Heritage Association. (CHA).
You are cordially invited to submit a paper or presentation for possible inclusion in this symposium. Abstract submissions are via email to ajbotha1953@gmail.com by 01 September 2024. Abstract should be 200 to 300 words and a 35 minute timeslot will be available for presentation.
Areas of interest for this symposium include, but are not limited to the following topics:
Cultural and historical conservation and protecting heritage assets Archaeology, including structures, infrastructure or monuments Dark heritage, including human depravity and suffering, tragedy, battlefields, concentration camps, funerary heritage, or rituals about them. Gastronomy, including the art of cooking or choosing food, drinking and eating. Historic and industrial heritage Living and movable cultural heritage, including practises and skills handed down from generation to generation, including arts, crafts, literature and music. Natural heritage including geology Anything else deemed important because of its history, artistic or scientific value.
