Statement of Significance

Mid-to-later 19th century farmhouse, set in a loose werf formation with a variety of ordinary farm buildings of various ages surrounding it. House set on a plinth with two gables, stoepkamers and central, symmetrical access. Front gables are curvilinear and have round vents, straight gable at side. Original joinery including some internal shutters. Perspex burglar bars do detract. The house is a very good example of a turn-of-the century farmhouse. This is a contributing farm werf, that exhibits a pattern of settlement of the Bottelary, and introduces an interesting Victorian architecture. It has historical, architectural and contextual significance.

Landscape Significance

Mature trees around the werf, in a setting not defined by trees, being on top of the Bottelery hills.
