Description
Cape Dutch, rare TT-shape with rare stepped end gables and a front gable with decorative pilasters. Large concrete verandah dated 1948. Bank of olive trees between two roads extends for 1.2 km. Smit mausoleum (1996) prominent above werf.

Statement of Significance
This site is rare, being one of the few TT-shaped houses in the wider region, and additionally having
stepped end-gables. Many of the alterations remain reversible. The site has high historical,
architectural, contextual, scenic and landscape significance. It is a rare remaining example. It
remains a proclaimed National Monument.
