Statement of Significance

This werf, and in particular its homestead, is unique and rare. The two bow-fronted stoep kamers are remimescent of similar Cape Georgian houses in Cape Town (for instance Wolmuster in Rondebosch). The site has high historical, architectural, contexual and scenic significance. It has a strong association with the history of slavery at the Cape. The site is a proclaimed national monument, and remains deserving of its PHS status.

Landscape Significance

Mature oaks form an edge along the lower contour, in front of the house.
