Statement of Significance

The structures at High Rustenburg are not of architecural or heritage distinction. While the farm is located within the culturally rich Grade 1 Ida’s Valley context, the individual structures and elements on the property would not warrant a very high heritage grading.

Landscape Significance

Mature trees contribute to the rural character of the valley. The network of windbreaks, which divided the landscape into a checkerboard of "rooms" in the heyday of fruit farming, is still evident in parts, notably Kelsey Farm and High Rustenberg, but much reduced elsewhere in the valley (Kantor et al, 2008: 25).
