Statement of Significance
Despite the somewhat intrusive wrought-iron burglar bars enclosing the stoep, the Victorian structure
on this site has aesthetic and architectural significance by virtue of its scale, massing and
architectural language. It contributes to the character of Dirkie Uys Street, one of the best surviving
urban street precincts in Franschhoek.
