History

"Was built as a rectangular 2-room-deep ""condensed H-plan"", with a thatched roof and front gable. It was altered after 1889, but the old ceilings survive. (Fransen & Cook) It was a boarding house from the earliest date - famous guests included Dr Heinrich Lichtenstein (1803) and Governor Sir George Grey (1860). (Meiring & van Huyssteen)"
