Description
Eclectic farm werf, facing north-west towards the R44. The cellar is of the most interest architecturally and is extremely authentic, with a fine gable with neo-classical articulation. The old farmhouse is also of interest, with Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian elements. A low werf wall creates a threshold into the werf (together with a local stream), and the mature Oaks and bell-tower give further spatial <br />
structure to the werf. The werf is positioned so that wonderful views eastwards up the Annandale Valley and towards the Helderberg are gained from the main werf space.

Contextual Design
Good example of an informal and layered werf, with authentic remaining fabric.
Invasive Elements
Heritage Vulnerability
The cellar, in particular, is wonderfully authentic, and it's "over-sanitation" through over zealous restoration or alteration should be avoided at all costs.

Statement of Significance
This farmstead shows a high degree of layering and authenticity. Although modest in nature, it is an
excellent example of a historic type that sits in counterpoint to he highly formalised farm werfs along
the Eerste River. It has high architectural, historical, scenic, contextual and associational
significance.
