Description
A fairly elaborate, single storey Victorian Villa with hipped roof, wrap-around stoep, gable ends with decorative vents, and bay windows. The structure is not highly visible from the street edge, but it appears to retain a high degree of authenticity, and original Victoria fabric and elements. The house appears in the 1938 aerial photography for the area, as a stand-alone structure surrounded by gardens, and with an outbuilding, now on subdivided erf 1644.

Statement of Significance
This structure is an authentic example of a fairly elaborate Victorian house, and is characteristic of
the Victorian villas that were constructed in this part of Stellenbosch. Its garden makes a positive
contribution to Mostertsdrift, in addition to its fine architecture. It has architectural, some historical as
well as contextual significance, and contributes to the streetscape.
Landscape Significance
The very mature garden contributes to the greening of the street.
