Description
"Single storey 3-bay house with high raised parapet with moulded cornice and round cast iron vents, and with corner pilasters. Placed at an angle to the street. Central 4x4 door with sunrise fanlight in arched plaster architrave with pilasters continuing up to cornice. Plaster architraves to 4x4 door with 2-pane arched fanlight on left and 6x6 sash with internal shutters. Tiled stoep. Small 6x6 sashes to loft on left side. Wing on right with straight end gable and plain door to loft.Fine capped wall with rusticated capped posts and wrought iron gates. Small parapetted outbuilding at the rear of the site."
History
Was originally a mid 18th C T-shaped farmhouse which predated the extension of the street grid. It was acquired in 1923 by the Hebrew congregation and restored in 1979.
