Description
"Double storey house with raised moulded parapet and fluted corner pilasters. Ground floor has ""Cape Dutch"" arrangement of openings; 2x2 door with arched top panels and sunrise fanlight; 6x6 sashes with plaster surrounds (on the ground floor the top sash is hinged to open outwards). Stoep with end walls.Post-Modern 3-storey addition with parking on the ground floor, ""bay"" windows recessed in the facade and the top floor set back with a rounded raised parapet on precast columns to the verandah."
History
"Was built as a rectangular 2-room-deep ""condensed H-plan"", with a thatched roof and front gable. It was altered after 1889, but the old ceilings survive. (Fransen & Cook) It was a boarding house from the earliest date - famous guests included Dr Heinrich Lichtenstein (1803) and Governor Sir George Grey (1860). (Meiring & van Huyssteen)"
